About the place
Selište is an artificial lake on Goč, surrounded by conifer forest, and one of the mountain’s symbols. It is not for swimming: swimming and fishing are banned. People come for the walk, the quiet and the photos, and the lake is lovely in every season, especially in autumn.
Three marked trails lead around and to the lake. “Selište Lake, small” is a 2.35 km loop with 70 metres of climb, 45 minutes to an hour, good for families. “Selište Lake, large” is 5.15 km with 143 metres of climb, an hour to an hour and a half through the forest. The longest, “Goč centre – Selište Lake”, is 6.28 km with 147 metres of climb and takes an hour and a half to two.
The lake is about 23 kilometres by car from Vrnjačka Banja, some twenty-five minutes over Goč. Wear shoes for the forest, bring water and, for a longer walk, download the route or a map before you set off, as the signal in the forest can be weak. Ask the Vrnjačka Banja tourist organisation about trail conditions.
