About the festival

The Film Screenplay Festival is a film festival devoted to the screenplays of Serbian films, held in Vrnjačka Banja every summer. It is run by the Vrnjačka Banja Cultural Centre, with screenings on the “Danilo Bata Stojković” summer stage. In 2026 it took place for the fiftieth time.

A jury rewards the best screenplays, and since the jubilee edition the awards are called the Golden, Silver and Bronze Castle, after the Castle of Culture. There is also the “Slavko Lazarević” journalists’ award and an audience award. Alongside the competition come meetings with the authors, exhibitions, book launches, a concert and a symposium.

The dates move from year to year: in 2025 the festival was in July, in 2026 from 9 to 13 August. We add next year’s dates as soon as the Cultural Centre publishes them.

Screenings are in the evening, which makes the festival a good reason for a summer weekend in the spa: pools and walks by day, a film under the open sky at night.
