Street parking in Vrnjačka Banja is paid every day, weekends included, from 7:00 to 21:00. There are three zones: Extra, Zone 1 and Zone 2. An hour costs 60 or 70 dinars (about €0.50–0.60) and a day ticket in Zones 1 and 2 is 350 dinars (about €3). There is no free public parking near the centre.

Zones and prices

Parking is run by the municipal company JP Novi Autoprevoz. The price goes up after the first hour, and the main difference between the zones is how long you may stay.

Extra zone: SMS to 9630

  • Price: 70 dinars for the first hour, 90 for the second.
  • Limit: 120 minutes. No day ticket.
  • Where: Vrnjačka street, Kraljevačka street between the bridge by Banca Intesa and the health centre (Dom zdravlja), and the car parks by Banca Intesa, by Sloboda and at the health centre.

Zone 1 (red): SMS to 9631, day ticket 9633

  • Price: 60 dinars for the first hour, 80 for the second and third. Day ticket 350 dinars.
  • Limit: 180 minutes on hourly tickets.
  • Where: Kraljevačka, Beogradska, Proleterskih brigada, Cara Dušana, Save Kovačevića, Kruševačka and Svetog Save streets, the car park by Hotel Železničar and a few smaller car parks nearby.

Zone 2 (green): SMS to 9632, day ticket 9634

  • Price: 60 dinars for the first hour, 80 for each hour after. Day ticket 350 dinars.
  • Limit: none.
  • Where: Moše Pijade and Srpskih ratnika streets, Slatinski venac by the lake, the bus station car park, the car park by the sports hall and Heroja Čajke street.

How to pay

There are two ways: by SMS, or with a paper ticket bought at a newspaper kiosk (trafika) near the car park.

For SMS, text your number plate with no spaces to the number of the zone you are in. SMS parking generally works only from Serbian mobile numbers, so with a foreign SIM buy a paper ticket at a kiosk.

Hourly or day ticket

In Zone 2, four hours cost 300 dinars and five hours 380. The day ticket is 350, so it pays off from five hours on.

For a full day, the simplest plan is to park in Zone 2 and buy the day ticket straight away. The bus station car park is in Zone 2 and about 600 metres from the centre.

Private parking and parking at your accommodation

Right at the start of the Promenade (Šetalište) there is a private car park, at 100 dinars an hour. It costs more than the municipal zones, but it is the closest to the pedestrian area.

Before you book, check whether your accommodation has its own space. Listings under places to stay in Vrnjačka Banja show parking among the amenities.

Parking for the spa pools, the lake and the Japanese garden

  • Thermal spas and water parks: they have their own car parks for guests.
  • The lake (Jezero): has parking, and Slatinski venac by the lake is in Zone 2.
  • Japanese garden: you cannot drive to it. Park in one of the zones and walk through the park.

Fines

If you have not paid or your time has run out, the parking service issues a surcharge ticket of 1,000 dinars (about €8.50), valid for 24 hours in all zones.

Illegal parking is a separate offence under the Serbian Road Traffic Safety Act. Article 66 bans parking on pavements, pedestrian crossings, pedestrian zones, bus stops and spaces reserved for disabled drivers, among other places. For most of these, Article 333 sets a fine of 5,000 dinars; some carry more.

Vrnjačka Banja currently has no tow truck, so cars are not removed, but the municipal police do write tickets.

When parking is hardest

During Lovefest, the Carnival and any large event, the Extra zone and Zone 1 fill up early. On those days arrive before noon, use Zone 2 with a day ticket, or leave the car at your accommodation and walk.

Electric car charging

Chargers are mostly at hotels. If you are driving an electric car, ask the hotel before you arrive whether non-guests can use theirs.
