What to know

The centre of Vrnjačka Banja is small, and all the sights can be seen on foot in an afternoon. Most are in the park or along the Vrnjačka river, a few minutes from the promenade.

The usual first stop is the Bridge of Love, a small bridge over the river covered in padlocks, with the story of the teacher Nada and the officer Relja that Desanka Maksimović made into her poem “A Prayer for Love”. Above the Topla voda spring stands the Castle of Culture, General Belimarković’s castle of 1888–1894, now the local museum and, in summer, a venue for concerts and exhibitions. The newest attraction is the Sky View Ferris wheel of 2023, about 50 metres high, with closed cabins and a 14-minute ride.

For a good round, start at the castle and Topla voda, walk through the park to the Bridge of Love and the promenade, and take the wheel at dusk; it stands in the park by the Jezero spring. The wheel runs in the rain and the museum is indoors, so this works when the weather is poor too.

With more time, add the springs: the whole round is in the mineral springs of Vrnjačka Banja.
